Commonwealth Week 8- 14 March 2010

Science, Technology and Society is the Commonwealth Day theme for 2010.

It will be the theme for the major celebrations at the traditional Westminster Abbey Observance Service and the Commonwealth Lecture during the week of 8 March, as well as many other events and activities around the Commonwealth.

Science and technology are crucial elements in moving forward governance, economic and human development. In today's world they underpin communication, commerce, arts and culture, health, wealth and human rights.

Around the Commonwealth there are many examples of scientists playing a crucial role in society whether working on malaria prevention, combating climate change or developing renewable sources of energy.

To support the event, UKCDS is showcasing members' activities that support research and capacity building in developing Commonwealth countries.
