A one-day conference to coincide with the UN International Day for Disaster Reduction.
Key note speaker: Andrew Maskrey, Senior Coordinator for the UNISDR Global Assessment Report on Disaster ReductionThe aim of this one-day conference is to create an environment in which the UK ‘disasters community’, whether from private sector, academia, non-governmental organisations or government, can learn about existing initiatives, share their work and discover better ways to coordinate and collaborate with each other.
The event will profile research capabilities and strengths in disaster reduction and climate resilience; bring a critical focus onto prevention and mitigation efforts and identify opportunities for improving the evidence base for the UK Government’s current Emergency Response Review and other international development policy initiatives.
Speakers include international experts plus key figures from UK government, research bodies and humanitarian organisations.
