International Conference on Evidence-Informed Policy Making
Evidence-Informed Policy making has become a hot topic in international development. This has resulted in a lot of activity focused on supporting communication of research outputs, for example in the form of briefings for policy makers. However, such outputs will only have impact if they are accessed and used. It is therefore crucial to build the demand for research information from policy makers. To achieve this, it is necessary to understand both the incentives which drive policy makers to look for research information and their capacity to find and evaluate it.This conference will bring together researchers with an interest in the use of evidence in policy making and decision makers from policy making institutions.
The conference will show-case research which:
- Assesses the needs and demands of policy makers for research information
- Assess the capabilities of policy makers/influencers to access and use research information
- Evaluates the use of evidence in current policy making processes (for example the drafting of white papers, bills etc)
- Explores the links between policy makers, research intermediaries (for example press officers, political advisers, civil servants) and researchers
- Evaluates efforts to build capacity for Evidence-Informed Policy Making
