Public health impacts of strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Launching the findings of an international study into climate change and health, 25 November 2009, London.

An international team of researchers will present the findings of a major study into the health effects of different policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in high and low-income countries.

Event sessions:

9.30-12.15: The health impacts of climate change
This session will examine the potential health impacts of climate change, and discuss the UK and global response to this threat.

13.30-16.30: The public health impacts of reducing greenhouse gas emissions
Beginning with a keynote presentation by the UK Secretary of State for Health, this session will focus on the health impacts of mitigation strategies, including the launch of the study findings. Linked with a simultaneous event in the US, a  joint panel in London and Washington will discuss the policy implications of the work, and consider ways to encourage technological and behavioural change, via live satellite link
