Policy Research Specialist

The Human Development Report Office of UNDP in New York is seeking an experienced researcher to contribute substantively to the Human Development Report.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Research (Senior Policy Advisor), the Research Specialist contributes substantively to Human Development Report, through research, research management, writing and managing statistical databases. The research specialist also participates in  outreach for the HDRs and HDRO.

Essential criteria includes:  

  • a Masters degree or equivalent in a social science. Economics (especially development economics), sociology, political science and anthropology, with multi-disciplinary skills, are particularly relevant. A PhD. is also considered an asset;
  • Excellent analytical and research skills as indicated by publications in peer-reviewed journals;
  • A sound knowledge of the current state of human development;
  • At least seven years of experience in research, report production, or policy formulation at national or international level.
