Knighthood for UKCDS Chair, Robert Watson

Congratulations to Sir Robert Watson, Defra's chief scientific adviser, who has been honoured with a knighthood in the new year's list for his contribution to science.

Professor Watson is currently interim UKCDS Chair until March 2012, taking over from our outgoing Chair, Professor Anne Glover, whose new role as Chief Scientific Adviser to the European Union has taken her to Brussels.

On receiving the knighthood, Sir Robert said: "I am delighted and humbled by this honour, which implicitly recognises the value of scientific knowledge in national and international environmental policy formulation. Of all the honours I have received this is very special, not only to me but also to my family and friends."
