Scottish study paves way for new development sciences ‘hub’
A study has concluded that a collaborative approach to international development in Scotland would deliver significant added value to developing countries, to Scottish institutions and the Scottish economy.
The report for Scottish Initiative for International Development Science (SIIDS), published in October this year, found that there was a lack of awareness among Scottish Universities and colleges about each other's international development activities.
The report recommends that a central hub be created to facilitate collaborative working and promote capacity building and knowledge exchange between Scottish tertiary education and research institutions and their partners in developing countries.

A second consultation process is now underway to garner support for the concept and determine funding and management. Referred to as SCAID, the Scottish Collaborative Alliance for International Development, the project is administered by the Universities of Aberdeen, Glasgow and Stirling.
