Engineering and Physical Science Research Council

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the main UK government agency for funding research and training in engineering and the physical sciences. It invests in a broad range of subjects – from mathematics to materials science, and from information technology to structural engineering.

The mission of EPSRC is to:

  • Promote and support, by any means, high quality basic, strategic and applied research and related postgraduate training in engineering and the physical sciences
  • Advance knowledge and technology, and provide trained scientists and engineers, which meet the needs of users and beneficiaries (including the chemical, communications, construction, electrical, electronic, energy, engineering, information technology, pharmaceutical, process and other industries), thereby contributing to the economic competitiveness of the UK and quality of life

The Chief Executive, Professor David Delpy, sits on the Board of UKCDS.
