Fixing Famine: How Technology and Incentives Can Help Feed Africa

By Jasson Urbach and Daniel Sacks
Published by the International Policy Network (IPN)

Based on fieldwork conducted in Malawi and Kenya, this study investigates the use of agricultural technology by rural farmers in Africa, including specialized seeds, irrigation, and greenhouses.

The authors propose four short-term policy solutions to reduce barriers to technology: using genetically modified organisms; increasing availability of credit to small holder farmers; infrastructure improvements and better provision of technology.
