The Millennium Development Goals: a cross-sectoral analysis and principles for goal setting after 2015

The Millennium Development Goals: a cross-sectoral analysis and principles for goal setting after 2015Lancet and London International Development Centre Commission
Published September 2010

Development goals should be based on a shared vision and not on the the bundling together of independent targets, according to a study published by the Lancet and London International Development Centre (LIDC).

Bringing together sectoral experts on different MDGs, the interdisciplinary study identified cross-cutting challenges that have emerged from MDG implementation so far. Instead of a new set of MDGs post the 2015, the authors call for a set of five holistic principles by which development should be achieved: holism, equity, sustainability, ownership and global obligation.
